Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) said that it has won a contract from US Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC), to provide information technology (IT), data centre and disaster recovery site support.

SAIC will perform the one year base period of performance contract having four one year options with a total value of more that $49m at MSC headquarters, Washington Navy Yard; Pensacola in Florida, Norfolk in Virginia, and San Diego in Ca1ifornia.

SAIC said that it will provide ashore and afloat communications along with IT services for MSC ships while they deliver supplies and conduct specialised missions throughout the work.

SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager Anthony Hess said that the company is looking forward to support TIMPO by providing capacity and performance services to identify potential challenge-areas in the MHS infrastructure.

"The services we deliver will help to assess network utilisation and enhance system performance," Hess said.

SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager Tom Baybrook said that they will support MSC by maintaining the operational availability of their IT and communications systems as they continue to deliver innovative and cost-effective maritime offerings.
