Oracle has unveiled new VM blade cluster reference configuration for Sun Blade 6000 modular systems.
The comapny said the new VM blade cluster reference configuration helps reduce the time to deploy virtual infrastructure by up to 98% when compared to multi-vendor configurations.
The company said that all components listed in the reference configuration have been tested together, reducing the need for customer testing and the time-consuming, as well as reducing the effort of designing and deploying a stable configuration.
In addition, users can benefit from pre-installed Oracle VM Server for x86 software on its scalable and reliable Sun Blade servers with built-in networking.
Oracle’s Sun ZFS Storage Appliance product line provides high availability via the blade cluster and a documented practice guide helps reduce deployment time and cost for customers implementing virtualised applications or private cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) architectures.
The company said that to further support easier, faster and lower-cost deployments, its Linux, Solaris and VM are available for pre-install on select Sun x86 systems, and VM Templates are available for download for Oracle Applications, Fusion Middleware, Database, and Real Application Clusters.
Oracle VM and Linux engineering senior vice president Wim Coekaerts said assembling and integrating software and hardware systems from different vendors can be a huge barrier to deploying virtualised infrastructures as it is often a complicated, time-consuming, risky and expensive process.
"By delivering a pre-tested, single-vendor offering for the entire hardware and software stack, the new Oracle VM blade cluster reference configuration dramatically simplifies the process and can enable customers to set up Oracle VM-based virtual infrastructures in a matter of hours rather than weeks," Coekaerts said.
