Logitek Plc has been appointed the sole UK distributor of the NCD16 network display station from Network Computing Devices Inc of Mountain View, California. The NCD16, recently the subject of OEM deals from Pyramid Technology and Stellar Computer Inc, supports X Window with its own 12.5MHz 68000 processor with up to 4.5Mb of RAM, and a graphics co-processor. It is usable with DEC VMS machines as well as with Unix. It has a 16 monochrome monitor with 1,024 by 1,024, 105 dot per inch resolution: most of our competitors have misjudged the screen requirements of the new market, says the company’s director of product development, John Chapman. Price in the UK will be UKP2,200 for the 1Mb version. The station is the first in a family of similar products, with colour versions expected later this year. And in other countries, Network Computing Devices has signed as its distributors Tekelec Airtronic SA and GmbH for France and West Germany, BIM SA in Belgium and Luxembourg, Delphi SpA in Italy, Modulator SA in Switzerland, BriCom Communications Ltd in Israel, the ubiquitous Lionel Singer Pty Ltd and Comperex Pty in Australia; Mitsui Comtek Co in Japan, and Tata-Elxsi Pte Ltd for Singapore, China and India.
