The Japan Credit Bureau has chosen electronic funds transfer software developed in Belgium for its international cash dispensing network. The Credit Bureau, which has signed IBM Japan Ltd to install the network, is to use the Positive EFT software developed by the Brussels division of El Segundo, California-based Computer Sciences Corp and initially used in Belgium’s own Mister Cash hole-in-the-wall cash dispensing network. The contract comes via Computer Sciences’ Japanese distributor Kanebo Co, which has adapted the software for the Japanese market and concluded the deal with IBM Japan. Tests have already been performed on a network based on three IBM-badged System/88 machines from Marlborough, Massachusetts-based Stratus Computer Inc over a period of two months, with transaction management being implemented over a private X25 packet-switched network, security features and routing being handled by Computer Sciences, and installation of the network is starting now. Computer Sciences could not put a figure on the total value of the order.
