AT&T Corp has duly bought the Interchange Network Co Ltd Partnership of Ziff Communications Co, developer of the Interchange Online Network that is due to launch this year, offering simple access to and creation of electronic information. Interchange, which gives publishers the tools to build electronic newspapers and magazines and control pricing, advertising and presentation. will continue to be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but around $60m was suggested.The first on-line and Internet versions of the service should be reaching paying customers by the spring, which will put AT&T well ahead of the Microsoft Network, which is currently stalled by the hold-up with Windows95. In November, AT&T also bought the 80% it did not already own in the ImagiNation Network, which offers games, bulletin boards and other interactive services.
