Radius Inc yesterday duly announced its licensing agreement with Apple Computer Inc for use of Mac OS and hardware components, and Power Computing Corp was also confirmed as a licensee. Radius plans to offer PowerPC-based computers designed specifically for professional users in the digital video and colour publishing markets. They will integrate Radius’s digital video hardware and software, VideoFusion application software, and a high performance Mac OS-compatible system. Separately, Apple cut the hourly charges for its new eWorld on-line service to to $2.95 an hour from $4.95 an hour. The next release of eWorld is expected to include Internet support, new electronic mail management capabilities, and new multimedia features in the spring. And Apple cut US prices 5% to 11% on Workgroup Servers 6150, 8150 and 9150, which now cost from $2,550 to $8,710. And Apple launched the Apple Mobile Message System, designed to enable users of notebook and handheld computers to receive short and long wireless messages, diary updates, news updates and a variety of other information via Paging Network Inc’s US-wide wireless network.
