Cadcentre Group Plc, the Cambridge UK design software supplier to the process and power industries, has strengthened its onshore petrochemicals sector portfolio through a $4.5m deal with AEA Technology Plc, another UK engineering technology company (CI No 3,582).
The deal, described as a strategic alliance, will see Cadcentre integrate AEA’s 3D PlantView software with its flagship product PDMS (plant design management system), folding the 2,000-strong Plantview customer base into PDMS’ 8,000 user base. Cadcentre sales and marketing manager Richard Longdon said the PlantView customer base should add $2m to Cadcentre’s annual license revenue.
Cadcentre has also acquired the intellectual property rights to AEA’s graphic user interface (GUI), said to be more Windows-friendly, and formed a joint venture to develop 2D technology with Hyprotech, a Canadian firm that AEA acquired in 1997.
