Unisys Corp has acquired the Integration Solutions business unit of ambitious financial data processing company FIserv Inc as part of what the two are calling a broad services relationship. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Unisys will take on network integration work for FIserv’s 7,000 financial service provider clients. Unisys says it wants the skills of the FIserv unit, while FIserv, which has been growing rapidly, needs a consistent service delivery infrastructure for its worldwide customer base. Unisys has been a partner with Brookfield, Wisconsin-based FIserv, which provides financial data processing systems and information management services and products to banks and savings institutions, for 35 years. Since 1984 FIserv has acquired around 75 small financial services companies, and has built its revenues up to $894.6m for the nine months ending in September 1998. Its income rose 27% to $84.7m during the same period. Already this month FIserv has acquired ASI Financial, a provider of profitability measurement software, and the Freedom Group, a developer of specialized software products and services to the insurance industry.
