IBM Italia, having sold 175,000 personal computers last year, should have increased its share of the Italian PC market to 12%, above its expectations and above the share obtained by other European IBM divisions, said PC division manager Massimo Bramati, in a report in Il Sole-24 Ore. Servers registered the highest increase of 105%, to 7,800 units sold over the previous year. Notebooks followed, with a 28% increase, to 19,000 units, while desktops and business systems sales increased 27% each, Bramati reported. As was the case in other divisions of IBM, including IBM France, consumer PC sales were disappointing, with only 27,000 units sold in Italy, the report said.
