CA Technologies has launched its Data Center Infrastructure Management 4.0 (CA DCIM) that will help in monitoring, managing and optimising the use of power, cooling, space and assets in the data centre.
The new release will enable customers to collect power and environmental information from data centre facilities and IT systems in order to analyse, report, alert and control the data centre environment.
It also helps decision-makers understand energy consumption and use, visualise data centre space, place and locate data centre assets, manage asset lifecycle, perform root-cause analysis and plan capacity.
With DCIM 4.0, customers can integrate the management of their data centre infrastructure with the management of IT to meet the needs of the business.
It also enables customers to leverage facilities management systems and unifies them for data centre monitoring, troubleshooting, optimisation and planning.
CA Technologies Energy and Sustainability general manager Terrence Clark said CA DCIM 4.0 provides customers with a monitoring and management system which helps bring together IT and facilities to meet the needs of the business at lower cost.
"With CA DCIM’s advanced functionality, customers can consistently make better use of power, space and cooling capacity so that they can achieve more with their critical infrastructure," Clark said.
The new release includes an expanded integration gateway functions for improved data capture and provides 3-D visualisation of thermal environment for discovering hot spots that indicate inefficiencies and potential threats to critical IT services.
Release 4.0 offers improved IT asset discovery and monitoring for identification of underutilised equipment, expanded integration with Cisco EnergyWise, integration with CA Executive Insight for Service Assurance and a simplified analysis, identification and recommendation of available rack space based on multiple factors.
