Unicomp Inc of Marietta, Georgia, has entered into negotiations with a substantial UK company, with which it has signed a non-binding letter of intent for an all-cash sale of its subsidiary, Aurora Unicomp. It expects to complete the transaction within 30 days. Aurora is one of Northern Ireland’s larger systems integration services, training and systems support companies. Unicomp says it wants to concentrate on its core platform migration, vertical market applications and payment processing systems for Unix and Windows NT. Best known for the Unibol System 36 and AS/400 rehosting tools for Unix and NT, Unicomp acquired Software Ireland – later Unibol Ltd – in the mid-1990s. Unibol is still one of its Northern Ireland subsidiaries, alongside ICS/UniComp, ICM/UniComp and CI Computer Software Ltd. UniComp says it will retain its presence in Northern Ireland through these subsidiaries, which are expected to continue trading with Aurora.
