Through a partnership with Red Hat Software Inc, SuperNova Inc will ship its Component Developer application development environment free to users of the Linux operating system. Using Component Developer, Linux hackers should be able to develop and use portable and re-usable adapters for organizations with heterogeneous software environments – that is, just about every organization that uses software. Developers will also be able to use SuperNova’s Integration Components, including legacy application wrappers, application extenders, database connectors and package application adapters, with software developed using Component Developer for Linux.

SuperNova claims to be the first Enterprise Application Integration vendor to jump on the Linux bandwagon. The company says it plans to demonstrate Component Developer for Linux at the Fifth Annual Linux Expo, May 18-22, in Ralegh, North Carolina. As president and CEO Rob Hoogstraten put it: The growing Linux community presents and enormous opportunity for SuperNova as it expands its user base. Only time will tell whether enterprise application integration is as attractive to the Linux developer community as that community’s business is to SuperNova.
