Japanese electronics, electrical equipment and information technology firm Toshiba has launched a new line-up of four 2.5-inch enterprise HDDs with a 10,500 RPM rotation speed.
The new drives include: AL13SEB900, AL13SEB600, AL13SEB450 and AL13SEB300 that offers a capacity of 900GB, 600GB, 450GB and 300GB respectively.
The new line of HDDs will meet the demand for enterprise applications, such as servers and storage systems by enhancing its line-up of 2.5-inch HDD with high capacity drives operating at 10,500 RPM.
AL13SEB900 offers a 856Mbit/mm2 (552Gbpsi) areal density and an internal transfer rate of 286 MB/s.
It employs a dual-stage head positioning actuator, which improves the accuracy by approximately 30% and delivers an energy efficiency of approximately 41% higher than that of its predecessor, MBF2600RC.
The new drives are compatible with the European Union’s RoHS directive on the elimination of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and decreases CO2 emissions across the product lifecycle.
AL13SEB900 reduces by approximately 2.4kg per year by cutting power consumption and environmental burdens from the raw materials stage, the company said.
