San Jose, California-based contract manufacturer Sanmina Corp has agreed to acquire circuit board manufacturer Altron Inc for $218m in stock. Altron, of Willmington, Massachusetts, only recently took over some of Hewlett-Packard Co’s printed circuit assembly capacity with a view to setting up a new plant in Dallas, Texas (CI No 3,465). Altron posted 1997 revenues of $172.4m. Sanmina, which merged with Elexsys International Inc in November 1997, also warned that product delays would affect its fourth quarter revenues and income for the period ending September 30. It expects preliminary revenues in the fourth quarter of $190 to $195m, compared to $160.6m in the fourth quarter of 1997. Results will be released on October 26.
