Ardent Software Inc, the Westboro, Massachusetts-based data management development tools company, has reported third-quarter net income up 68.6% at $5.6m on revenue up 52.3% at $45.3m. Earnings per share for the quarter were $0.27, up from $0.20 in the year-ago quarter. Excluding $2.3m in amortization charges, earnings amounted to $0.36 per share, or $0.03 higher than the First Call consensus. The company says data warehouse revenue soared to $19.2m from $4.7m in the year-ago quarter. For the nine-month period, net income was $1.2m, or $0.06 per share, on revenue up 41.9% at $120.2m, compared to a net loss of $3.1m last year. Results include one-time charges and amortization costs totaling $19.9m and $16.7m for the current year and last year, respectively.
