Web hosting firm Exodus Communications Inc has signed a partnership deal with Fast Search & Transfer ASA, under which it will offer the Norwegian company’s search engine technology with its hosting services. Likewise, Fast will market Exodus’s managed services and will host its AllTheWeb search portal on Exodus’s Internet Data Centers in Santa Clara and Boston.
This is a second major bundling deal for Fast, which comes during talks with Dell Computer Corp to include its software on Dell servers. Fast claims to have the largest search engine in the world, with 200 million indexed pages or some 25% of the internet. As well as searching by media type for the consumer audience, the company also says its technology is particularly suited for the corporate intranets.
