Pioneering web reporting tool company, Sqribe Technologies Inc has added the ability to create reports whose data can be analyzed, manipulated and displayed graphically by the user in many different ways. Reports created with the VisualSqribe report builder provides the user with data cubes which can be sliced, diced and drilled then visually displayed in a graph and charting Java applet. Sqribe has enhanced its ReportMart delivery system to support the new features, which work alongside its PowerSqribe report development system and SQR server software. Sqribe claims it provides a more integrated end-to-end web-based OLAP and reporting system than any vendors from Oracle through to Actuate. It claims to be able to present reports on hundreds of different platforms while other rivals, such as Seagate Software, require users to use Windows NT. Sqribe claims 250 Fortune 500 companies are using its software, which has a typical sale price of $25,000 and up. The full suite of products, now called Sqribe Enterprise, is priced from $35,000 on Windows NT. Sqribe believes the majority of web report developers and doing their work on NT. VisualSqribe costs $1,000 per seat. ReportMart 1.5 is priced from $25,000. Sqribe says it made a profit on revenues of $18m during the first six months of this year compared with $24.6m revenue for its entire 1997 fiscal year. It says it also plans an IPO listing in future.
