Resource management software vendor Ariba Technologies Inc has launched a UK office as part of its European expansion plans. The UK is the not the first port of call for the Sunnyvale, California-based company, which already has operating companies in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Scandinavia.
Ariba sells operating resource management software, and runs the Ariba Network, a web-based trading forum for users of the ORMS software and their suppliers. It targets Global 2000 companies with the product, which starts at $500,000 and is claimed to give $75m return on investment for every $1bn of purchasing passed through the system.
The company has already started direct sales in Europe, and is also looking into extending its US reseller relationship with JD Edwards & Co into Europe. France, Spain and Italy are the next countries where Ariba plans bases. The new office in Brentford will be headed up by European VP Kevin Gibson, who is currently based in the Netherlands. Ariba has been in Europe since last year, and counts Philips Electronics NV and Swiss airline SAirGroup AG among its European customers.
