Italtel and Tech Mahindra have signed a global agreement for commercial cooperation and industrial collaboration.
Italtel will use the collaboration to expand its IT portfolio and improve its catalogue of products and solutions, building its market position in the IT sector.
Tech Mahindra, meanwhile, looks to use Italtel’s market footprint to enter the Italian market and connect with Italian telecoms operators and enterprises.
The new partners will define an IT product portfolio, including Operation Support Systems (OSS) and Business Support Systems (BSS), for sale to service providers and enterprises. Tech Mahindra’s technological capabilities will help boost the features and time to market of Italtel’s products and solutions.
Internationally, Italtel will be able to use the Indian provider’s global reach to increase its business in EMEA and APAC.
The agreement also includes Tech Mahindra’s engagement of 40 Italtel employees to expand its presence.
"The agreement with Tech Mahindra is particularly important for us," said Italtel’s CEO Stefano Pileri. "From an industrial perspective it allows us to accelerate the development of our portfolio and time to market, both crucial factors in a highly competitive market."
He added: "For a player like us, with a very strong footprint in the network and infrastructure segments, the agreement is intended to expand our presence in IT, a sector which is gaining more and more relevance in regards to the evolution of networks towards virtualisation.
"We also want to expand the boundaries of our market activity to new foreign countries. I am confident that each partner will offer to the other the best of its competences and market expertise in order to meet the common objective of growth."
"The partnership with Italtel is absolutely strategic for Tech Mahindra," said Sandeep Phadke, Head of Continental Europe at Tech Mahindra. "It comprises two parts; faster product engineering and joint go-to-market for some of the largest strategic customers in Italy.
"The combination of Italtel and Tech Mahindra is unique in the industry because not only does it bring together Telecommunications and IT, but also a deep understanding of the Italian market."
