US based private equity firm Vista Equity Partners is reportedly planning to sell its network security company Websense.
Bloomberg cited sources familiar with the matter as saying that Vista has hired Citigroup to help the company find a potential buyer.
The source also highlighted that there is no guarantee about the sale of Websense, which was acquired by Vista for $890m in 2013.
Presently, Websense is likely to be valued at more than $1bn, reported Reuters.
Websense, founded in 1994, makes software that scans through network traffic and filters e-mails to protect companies against data theft and advanced cyber attacks.
According to reports, demand for cyber security technology has increased following large-scale attacks on organisations including Sony and Target.
Sony’s entertainment unit previously targeted to mass attack, which leaked data including private e-mails of the company’s top executives.
Earlier this week, Bain Capital also announced that it was acquiring online-security software maker Blue Coat Systems for $2.4bn from private equity firm Thoma Bravo.
