SoftNet Systems Inc, Mountain View, California-based cable internet access and content company, has reported a second- quarter net loss of $18.7m on revenue of $1.3m, compared to a loss of $3.1m in the year-ago quarter on revenue of $298,000. On a per share basis, the loss from operations excluding stock compensation charges of $5.7m amounted to $0.88 – when analysts surveyed by First Call were expecting a loss of $0.67. During the quarter, ISP Channel’s cable modem customer base rose 65% to 4,044 from 2,445 customers as of March 31. Cable systems deployed increased from 23 last quarter to 42. For the six-month period, net loss was $33.2m on revenue of $2.8m, against a loss of $6.8m last year on revenue of $764,000.
