Though Mac users around the world have been waiting eagerly for Apple Computer Inc’s forthcoming consumer laptop, word has it that they’ll have to wait a little longer. The iMac portable, code-named the P1, was slated for launch at the end of April, just in time for Apple’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC) at the beginning of May.
Now MacOS Rumors says the Lombard PowerBook G3, a new professional laptop, will be released in its place, with the P1 held back until MacWorld New York, July 21-23 1999. Other rumors trickling out of Cupertino indicate that the next iMac will have a black shell in place of the classic Bondi Blue, and that it will light up. Logically enough, the code name for the new machine is the Magic 8-ball.
