German-based cable operator Kabel Deutschland (KD) has selected Cisco CRS-3 Routers to upgrade its Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network core.
The core network upgrade will enable KD to expand the capabilities of its current services and deliver increased broadband speeds to meet the consumer bandwidth requirements.
Deployment of Cisco CRS-3 Carrier Routing System will also provide the cable operator with enhanced capacity, resiliency and robust IPv6 support, said the company.
KD broadband customers are currently avail Internet at speeds up to 100 mbps using DOCSIS 3.0 technology which can be increased to 1,000 mbps (1Gbps) as well as video and voice services with upgraded network.
Cisco Network Positioning System, which is incorporated in Cisco CRS-3 Routers, integrates the IP NGN infrastructure with cloud computing services to enable the German-based cable operator to optimise its network resources, reduce costs and provide an enhanced application experience.
The router utilises the modular Cisco IOS XR software operating system to simplify network operations while enabling system redundancy and network resiliency.
