BTNet, the internet service provision arm of UK telephone company British Telecommunications Plc, is fending off complaints from customers about its 45 Megabit link between Europe and the US which has failed. BT says the problem has been caused by a fault in the London Docklands-housed TeleHouse interconnect system used by internet carriers to put their data lines through. As a result of the fault, BTNet has had to halve its transatlantic traffic owing to a shortage in bandwidth and as of yet the company is giving no indication when the service will be back to normal. á
