In the wake of its retail-oriented partnership with NCR Corp (CI No 3,402), e-commerce server specialist InterWorld Corp has joined with Hewlett Packard Co to target large manufacturing sites. The deal will see InterWorld port its Commerce Exchange server to HP-UX. InterWorld explains that its strategy rests on three markets – retail, manufacturing and distribution – which its internal research and analysis group have identified as cashed-up, not yet e-commerce-enabled and ready to buy e-commerce products in the next two years. Having chosen its markets, InterWorld sought partners to provide a gateway into each space. NCR and HP now join FedEx, which signed with InterWorld in April to provide ‘pick, pack and ship’ distribution systems.
