Microsoft Corp’s decision to locate its software development center in Hyderabad, the capital of the southern state of Andhra Pradesh (CI No 3,376) has sparked off a debate as to whether Bangalore is losing its silicon edge to Hyderabad. According to Ashutosh Gupta, chief exeuctive of IMP (India), Hyderabad’s dominance over Bangalore can be attributed to the state’s computer savvy chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu and his aggressive public relations policy of granting investment subsidies to potential software investors in the city. While Bangalore’s infrastructure has started feeling the brunt of multinational investment, Naidu has adequately planned for facilities and infrastructure in his state.
