Netpower has released two integrated video streaming systems for the internet and corporate intranet market, Netstream and Netproduce. Netpower claims the Netstream video server is the only video streaming and video asset retrieval system for the Windows NT environment. It lets users stream live video to the WAN, or do off-line video capture from the same machine. The system uses Vxtrem video technology to support up to 1,000 concurrent users per Netstream server. The system comes bundled with Microsoft Corp’s Internet Information Server, Vxtreme Server and the Magnifi Server which enables the web-based retrieval and management of media assets. Netstream has three SCSI-2 controllers, up to 512Mb of memory and 10/100 Fast Ethernet for data transfer. Netproduce is a Pentium II system that the company says can produce live events directly for the internet through the use of software compression tools from Vxtreme. Netstream costs upwards of $6,560 and the Netproduce workstation is priced from $5,985. The company provides systems integration services for companies that want to make the most of their media assets and deliver those to the desktop. Its biggest growing market is for the integration of online multimedia training services. Netpower is a privately held and venture capital funded company that was set up in 1993.
