Encoding.com, a provider of audio and video encoding services for the internet, has secured $10m in its second round of funding. RRE Investors led the round and existing shareholders, including Olympic Venture Partners, took larger stakes in the start-up. The investment will be used to drive expansion, to develop new applications, to open a consulting services business unit and to expand the company’s Seattle headquarters and production operations. Encoding.com’s client list includes RealNetworks, Microsoft, Apple Computer Corp, ABC, Cisco, Buena Vista/Disney, FEMA, Major League Baseball, Merck, Safeco Insurance, Sony and Warner Brothers. Its first online application, mediaUpgrade.com, converts non-streaming media to MP3, Windows Media or Real Media for broadcast on the internet.
