The website of the hacker collective Anonymous group has been attacking the neo-Nazi websites in a systematic manner through a campaign dubbed Operation Blitzkreig.
According to Germany’s Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper, their efforts have led to frequent shut downs of the websites of neo-Nazi forums, including a new site named Nazi-leaks.net, sites of clothing retailers and Germany’s far-right NPD party.
The ‘hactivists’ are publishing personal details, including names, addresses and phone numbers, of the alleged neo-Nazi patronisers on their site.
However, their methods have not gone too well with Nazi baiters too.
Simone Rafael of an anti-Nazi web forum was quoted by BBC as saying the intention is a good one but was the wrong way to act.
"This is a lot of data, but there are already some names where it’s clear the people are not right-wing extremists," Rafael added.
Anonymous is a loose knit bunch of hackers who earlier showed solidarity with Wikileaks and Occupy Wall Street protests in the past. They also targeted the websites of other governments, such as Algeria, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Syria etc., claiming to oppose greed and corruption.
