Alcatel will supply its Evolium solution, including the radio access network and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). Alcatel’s GPRS network and services are a natural part of the migration path to 3G/UMTS technology.
Additionally, Alcatel will provide its low/medium capacity point-to-point microwave radio systems for short-haul applications. Based on Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH) technology, these systems are designed for seamless integration into any urban environment.
This project confirms Alcatel’s continued commitment to anticipate the growing needs of Aycell’s subscriber base, including the latest GSM enhanced mobile data services. GSM by Alcatel is today up and running in more than 110 networks in five continents, Marc Rouanne, president of Alcatel’s Mobile Networks activities, said of the deal.
