The South Korean company hopes the service will build on the increasingly popular SMS service.
We expect our video messaging service to be the killer application that will make wireless video a popular and useful service for consumers of all ages, said Jae Uk Lim, a manager in SK Telecom’s wireless Internet division, in a media statement.
Earlier this month it was revealed that text messaging had passed the three quarters of a billion a day mark, worldwide. If SK Telecom’s service achieves anywhere near this level of popularity it could earn the company a massive amount of money.
