Jude O’Reilley, Aventail’s director of product marketing, said that such devices made their way into the enterprise as gadgets for executives, but are becoming more important: Now they’re fundamentally not a part of the remote access infrastructure… but that’s starting to change. Aventail’s SSL-based VPN offering now supports Pocket PCs, using a new version of its OnDemand Java applet, which is downloaded on the fly to act as a secure client when remote users connects to the VPN gateway. O’Reilley said there are no plans to make a Pocket PC version of its Connect client executable.
