Freeview offers over 30 free-to-air channels and replaced the Granda/Carlton backed ITV Digital pay-tv service which went into liquidation in 2002.
Freeview sales top 500,000
UK Digital Terrestrial TV operator Freeview has sold over 500,000 boxes since it launched in early November. The BBC, Crown Castle, and BSkyB backed venture now has equipment in over 1.4 million homes when viewers using old ITV Digital equipment are taken into account.
