Matsushita, which uses the Panasonic brand name, needs technology like TTP’s if it is to make a serious push at the European market. Most European operators will only offer dual-band phones to their customers, since they want to ensure that the handsets are useable in areas where 3G coverage is not yet available.

TTP has already worked with Matsushita on several 2G handsets. It also already has a similar deal with Toshiba, signed last year, to develop dual-mode 3G chipsets.
