In the UK alone, Vodafone amassed 251,000 new customers bringing the number of UK clients up to 12.8 million. BT Cellenet, one2one, and Orange will be also be reporting on subscriber numbers, with Orange releasing details on 5th October.
The number of new subscribers is expected to curb somewhat, with operators taking a more focused approach to their client base, rather than offering incentives to increase subscriber numbers. Operators are more inclined to target clients with a view for larger profits and revenues, and increase the average revenue they receive from each subscriber.
The news however, did not spark any dramatic changes for Vodafone’s share price, trading at 155 pence, only 4 percent more than on the previous day.
