Building on the experience gained in handling over 60% of today’s global SMS traffic, this advanced platform takes performance and reliability to new levels, and will provide the backbone for a range of services such as advanced SMS and Multimedia Messaging. A trial of the MMS element of this platform will be conducted on the UMTS network of a major European operator.

Larry Quinn, Chairman of Logica Mobile Networks commented: Many operators have recognised that messaging will be the pre-eminent profit generator for the next generation of mobile systems and thus the best and quickest way to recoup investments in GPRS and 3G. However these operators need to be assured that they have the most robust and cost effective systems, to handle the huge forecast rise in traffic levels. He added Our new 3G Messaging platform offers a totally scaleable system capable of efficiently handling thousands of messages per second, whilst allowing operators to rapidly launch new services.

The platform’s open architecture incorporates a common messaging framework that provides applications with a set of re-usable services. Operators have only one generic messaging centre to deal with and a consistent management interface for all applications. Through this approach, Logica is leading the market in platform manageability and is allowing operators to reduce the cost of ownership of their messaging infrastructure.

In the 3G business environment, agility will be the key. The multi-service platform flexibility provided by Logica’s 3G Messaging platform helps operators to adapt their messaging business models quickly and efficiently. To support its implementation in operators networks, including the integration with third party systems, Logica have a full range of technical and business consultancy services.
