The new contact continues a relationship dating back to 1997.
Under this agreement, McLeodUSA will be Prodigy’s preferred network provider (outside the SBC Communications 13-state region), providing Prodigy savings up to 70 percent over previous access providers due to the robust McLeodUSA second- and third-tier market presence. This new agreement also allows Prodigy to continue to provide competitive and reliable service to its Internet subscribers while increasing the Prodigy dial network footprint.
The McLeodUSA nationwide data network, which reaches more than 90 percent of the U.S. population and has repeatedly rated in the top 10 percent of Internet access providers for performance, will support the pending V.92 network protocol that will allow dial Internet customers to experience faster navigation and throughput.
Prodigy’s commitment to fast and reliable connections for its members, combined with the McLeodUSA nationwide network further distinguish Prodigy’s reputation among consumers for its network reliability, said Gregory Williams, chief operating officer for Prodigy.
Prodigy customers are accustomed to speed and availability few ISPs can deliver, and through this new agreement, McLeodUSA will have a major role in ensuring exceptional service delivery, said Curt Gray, senior executive of McLeodUSA Wholesale Communication Services. We are committed to working closely with Prodigy to create the most efficient use of network resources and achieve joint economies of scale by executing our network plan to increase efficiencies, reduce network costs, and focus on core on-net locations.
Since 1996, the Internet Engineering and Operations Team at McLeodUSA has been focused on building and delivering a high quality network platform. This recent Prodigy renewal acknowledges our dedication to quality and performance, remarked Todd Wilkens, senior executive of McLeodUSA Engineering.
