The 96,000 square feet (8850 square metre) facility is COLT’s second ISC in Spain and follows last month’s opening of ISCs in Brussels and Hamburg, thereby extending COLT’s pan-European coverage and reinforcing its commitment of doubling its network of ISCs to 20 by the end of 2001.

Gines Alarcon, Managing Director of COLT Barcelona, says: Barcelona’s dynamic e-business community will benefit from being linked to the continent’s major business centres through our high-performance Gigabit router network. The new ISC, which boasts space for more than 1880 racks, provides our customers with access to Europe’s most comprehensive offering of co-location and managed e-services and is ideal for Catalan companies wishing to penetrate European markets via the web.

Our leading position in Europe’s hosting market is strengthened further, says Rob Mainor, COLT Internet’s Managing Director. With a footprint extending over 13 cities in 10 countries, and 3 cities added already this year, this is tangible evidence of our ability to execute and deliver the complex Internet solutions our customers demand. These large, secure, resilient Internet facilities set new standards for speed, bandwidth and connectivity, to deliver the outstanding quality of service our customers require. The Barcelona ISC is proof of our commitment to stay ahead of the competition.
