GHX and Lawson are to launch an initial pilot site in the second quarter of 2001. Lawson will provide all installation, training and basic customer support; GHX will provide integration assistance and ongoing marketplace connection support services.

The lawson.insight eProcurement Service will connect directly to this single-source pipeline and integrate it with a large number of internal software systems, enabling real-time updates for purchase orders, price quotes, order confirmations, order changes, sales history, shipment tracking, invoicing, payments, reconciliation, credits and rebates.

As a result of this new alliance, hospital members can leverage their enterprise application investment and receive maximum value from an integrated eProcurement system, explained Mike Mahoney, GHX’s president to the press. The resulting increased adoption of GHX among hospitals means acceleration of global industry standards that will benefit both healthcare providers and suppliers.

With this GHX connection, as suppliers update pricing, product and other information, hospitals’ Lawson systems will instantly utilize this data. Hospitals then create purchase orders, query for product details, pricing and availability and receive responses directly from suppliers.

There’s no doubt that trading exchanges bring significant value to the healthcare supply chain, added Jay Coughlan, president and chief operating officer, Lawson Software. Lawson’s eProcurement Service greatly enhances that value by providing direct connectivity to leading exchanges and suppliers for online purchasing, and by integrating those transaction with Lawson’s enterprise applications. It’s that integration that allows us to fully automate the purchasing cycle and streamline the entire process.
