Tempo integrates a number of strategic, market-leading acquisitions made by Textron in the telecom/datacomm market over the past three years.
The new organization provides wire and cable installation, testing and maintenance equipment for voice, data and video applications. Its products include telephone and digital test sets, cable management software, fiber optic testers, tone and probe instruments, installation products, connectors and cable locator devices. These products are currently sold under the well-recognized brand names of Tempo, Progressive, RIFOCS, Chesilvale, Datacom, IMAP, and Greenlee.
Tempo’s customers include voice, data, video and electrical contractors and distributors, as well as major telecommunications and cable television service providers and manufacturers.
The worldwide test and measurement market for fiber optic, copper and wireless products is estimated at more than $6 billion today, with attractive growth expected for the foreseeable future, says Tempo President Scott Hall, who joined Textron in March. By uniting the individual strengths of our business units under one strong umbrella brand, we will create a market platform on which we can build and integrate future acquisitions, leverage our internal growth, and capture new opportunities.
Tempo brings together valued products and expertise for a world that requires a reliable networking infrastructure, Hall continued. The market expects proven and advanced products combined with innovative technology and customer-focused knowledge. Our strategy is to ensure our customers’ success by applying that knowledge and growing our position as a significant force in the global communications arena.
