Nokia will supply Vodafone Hungary’s complete GPRS core network, as well as the upgrade of both the existing radio access network and the network management system. Deliveries will begin soon, and the GPRS system is expected to be operational already in December 2001.

Nokia will also provide Implementation and GPRS Network Planning Services, consisting of radio, transmission and IP planning including external network connectivity consultancy to enable fast start-up of packed-based subscriber services. The Nokia KeyCare Package will be provided to maintain the competitiveness of the network after rollout.

Our cooperation with Nokia has been very successful. Our network is being built at a rapid pace, and we are very happy that the one thousandth base station is already operational in the second year following the launch of our services. Thus by the end of this year, when we will be launching our GPRS services, our customers will be able to use the high quality Vodafone Network all over the country, said Vodafone Hungary CEO Attila Vitai, in a statement to the press.
