HP and Compaq have announced the dates of shareholder meetings to vote on the proposed merger. HP has set its shareholder meeting to vote on the merger for March 19. The meeting will be held at the Flint Center, Cupertino, California. Compaq will hold its meeting in a ballroom at a hotel in Houston, Texas the following day. The meetings have been scheduled on consecutive days to allow both companies’ management to be present at both.

It is thought European approval could help Hewlett-Packard win over shareholders who oppose the move. The proposed merger, which would be the largest ever in the information technology sector, is still under review in the US.
