The world’s largest mobile operator claims this is the first ever pan-European GPRS service, initially covering Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. The service will include all Vodafone’s European subsidiaries and allies by the end of 2002.

According to Vodafone’s Thomas Geitner, Our ability to deliver commercial GPRS roaming in Europe through the Vodafone footprint will unlock our corporate customers’ requirement for access to data services whilst traveling, which will generate new data roaming revenue.
