The alliance covers the development and marketing of iDC solution services, as well as related procurement and the operation and maintenance of the systems. Capitalizing on the partners’ capabilities, NTT Com provides a powerful consolidation of network services, hardware, middleware, system integration, and operation and maintenance, and realizes a high level of synergy for the provision of iDC solution services.

Combining Sun’s hardware and middleware, and CTC’s system integration capabilities in UNIX-based systems will enhance NTT Com’s iDC services such as co-location, hosting and managed services coupled with wide-ranging network services. Web-based open-network and intranet solutions will be tailored to the individual needs of corporate customers and their specific fields of business.

Besides joint marketing efforts through their respective sales channels, the alliance partners will cooperate with NTT Com in joint seminars and advertisement to create new markets.

Sun will furnish favorable terms and conditions in pricing and delivery of equipment and software, whereas CTC will work on UNIX-based system integration. NTT Com will be responsible for system operation and overall management of service provision. Collaboration both in procurement and system integration will result in the fast and cost-effective provision of these services.

NTT Com will fully leverage its expertise in end-to-end operation and maintenance of networks and systems, including assigning Sun’s dedicated technicians to the full-time maintenance of Sun products.

NTT Com will also offer services for the design and integration of end-to-end security for customer systems, including those at customers’ premises. After the construction of the systems, NTT Com will provide one-stop total security service through carefully crafted operation monitoring.

In conjunction with the alliance formation, NTT Com became the first Japanese telecom carrier to be granted a SunTone(TM) certification. Sun Microsystems, Inc. launched the SunTone program in 1999 to certify service providers and software vendors as meeting Sun’s demanding quality-of-service standards for infrastructure, operations, hardware, software and overall service delivery.
