Salins chose Nortel Multimedia Communications Server (MCS) 5100 virtual enterprise solution to ensure managers at its new headquarters in Brussels, Belgium could communicate and collaborate on projects with high security, anywhere, anytime with employees either at branch offices throughout Europe or out-of-office locations.
Nortel MCS 5100 is able to offer true choice to employees who are in a different location every day, allowing them to use their mobile phones and their laptops as true virtual offices, said Jean Marc Odet, enterprise marketing director, Nortel France.
Using MCS 5100 Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) capabilities, the new Salins network provides highly secure and reliable access to voice, video and multimedia applications anywhere, anytime for enhanced productivity, collaboration and mobility. MCS 5100 expands real-time collaboration options through voice and video conferencing, instant messaging, file sharing and co-navigation of documents. Salins employees will be able to have one number and route all messages – voice, e-mail, fax – to one convenient inbox that can be accessed from a variety of devices – telephone, computer or PDA.
Currently, 30 of Salins’ senior managers are equipped with the new system. The company is gradually evolving its existing voice and data communication system to a single, IP (Internet Protocol) fully converged network serving its 1,400 employees at 14 main sites in Europe. VobisCom, a Nortel channel partner, conducted the preliminary study and supported the implementation.
