The program is being deployed in functional areas including engineering, contracts and purchasing and by external constituencies such as suppliers and customers.

According to Centric, Hamilton Sundstrand Aerospace chose the technology to facilitate the development of complex systems that require collaboration of dispersed employees, to assist in program management and to synchronize different product introduction processes for teams working on these complex programs.

Centric said its Open PLM approach integrates office documents, MCAD, ECAD, CAE and PDM into companies’ common environment in an effort to leverage enterprise wide content and existing IT infrastructure investments.

The intuitive nature of the solution fosters collaboration and highly informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle, said Bob Guirl, program director for Hamilton Sundstrand’s aerospace power systems. The bottom line is increased accountability for all parties through the real-time sharing of critical project information. When you have such accountability, problems are identified sooner and costly delays can be avoided.
