MercuryMD supplies healthcare providers with mobile systems to improve clinical workflow and operational efficiencies. The employees of MercuryMD, including founders Drs. Alan Ying and William Lawson, will become employees of Thomson.

MercuryMD will become part of Micromedex, a Thomson Scientific and Healthcare business. Micromedex provides integrated clinical knowledge solutions, serving more than 3,400 hospitals throughout the US.

Together, they will leverage their technology to provide evidence-based clinical knowledge integrated into tools such as laptops and PDAs. The combination of clinical decision support and point-of-care tools will help healthcare professionals improve patient outcomes, clinical safety, and quality of care while managing costs.

We are working to help healthcare providers improve the quality and delivery of healthcare by improving clinical workflow and access to evidence-based information at the point of care, said Robert Cullen, president and chief executive officer, Thomson Scientific & Healthcare.

The joining of MercuryMD and Micromedex will create a seamless solution that promotes the adoption of evidence-based treatment protocols and minimizes the risk of medical errors, said Jeff Reihl, executive vice president, Thomson Micromedex.
