Both companies have stopped accepting credit card transactions from Allofmp3.com. As a result, the download store’s customers have been directed to pay through another website, Alltunes.com.
The action Visa has taken is in line with legislation passed in Russia and with basic international copyright and intellectual property norms, said Simon Barker, a Visa International spokesman.
Mediaservices, which owns AllofMP3, dismissed claims that the service operates illegally, maintaining that, by paying royalties to a Russian licensing group, it is working within Russian laws.
