The $39.95 application looks for the presence of spyware such as advertising software, keystroke loggers, and other wares that interfere with the performance of PCs or compromise the user’s privacy.
Senior product manager Bryson Gordon said that AntiSpyware was built on a completely separate, completely new scanning engine built with spyware detection in mind, rather than just being a rehash of the VirusScan features.
The software will be able to remove all the components of and creations of already-present spyware, or to prevent it from being installed at all, with the user given the option of what they want and what they do not, Gordon said.
