Terms of the BPM extension were undisclosed, although IBM said the deal is the bank’s biggest services engagement and covers 25% of its overall IT budget through 2009. In 2003 IBM started working on the development and implementation of a platform for BPM that now supports all of its 600 branches.
IBM recently announced a five-year deal with Italy’s Banca Marche to design a paperless branch system for the bank and run its infrastructure. The designs will be based on J2EE open standards and build upon IBM’s current banking process services.
IBM also recently inked two-year contract to implement a Web-based platform for Banca CR Firenze Group. The deal comes on top of an existing seven-year contract IBM holds with the bank. The new deal also includes facility, desktop, and infrastructure management services at all the banks’ branches.
